Well, I missed the end of April, so this is an April/middle of May round up instead!

First of all, a massive, continued Thank You to everyone who contributes to Melton Mowbray Swimming Club – swimmers, coaches, committee, the gala admin team (and it really is a big team effort), and all volunteers, from team managers to officials, kit to trophies – MMSC is a volunteer led sports club run for the benefit of its members, and without you giving up your free time to help, we would cease to run.

Well Done

And so to our swimmers.  Well done to Charlotte , Will, Ivy, Meredith, Willow and Emmie for qualifying and competing at the Long Course Regional Championships, held over 2 very long weekends.  A very tough competition but you all raced amazingly well.  As Bruce Lee once said (probably) “Consistency and Discipline = Mastery”

Well done to our Diddy Team who raced at Braunstone in the 2^nd round of the Diddy League.  You all did amazingly well and came a fantastic third on the night.  The 3^rd and final round is on Saturday, 20^th June – details tbc.

Gala Invites

You should all have invites for the three long distance internal club championship galas held on various dates in June at Waterfield, plus the Derby Excel Summer Sizzler Open Meet on 11^th and 12^th July.  Please can you respond to the invites, even if the answer is no, as this helps with planning. 

AOE/Recording Training

We are planning on holding training on Sunday 31^st May at Waterfield in running the AOE (basically the electronic timing equipment) and gala recording.  These are integral positions in running our club champs/internal gala.  Rob and Katy Byron have run these ships for the past few years, but we are now looking at getting a group of volunteers trained to cover future galas.  These are great positions for the computer/electronically minded amongst us, but no expertise is required.  All volunteers will be fully supported. Plus you get a free poolside seat at the club champs??  (Times are to be confirmed based on numbers but probably 430pm-630pm ish.)  Please email me [email protected] if you are interested.

Deputy Head Coach

As you know Lee is leaving us in the summer, so we are looking for a new Deputy Head Coach.  This is a fantastic opportunity for an L2 coach looking for part time paid hours with leadership and supported study potential.  If you are interested, or know someone who would be of interest, please do not hesitate to speak to me or any of the club officials for an informal chat.

Rutland Aqua Park

Nancy is kindly organising an end of season fun social which sounds fantastic!  Thank you to those that returned your expressions of interest and thank you, Nancy.  More details to be communicated at a later date
