Dear Swimmer

Welcome to Melton Mowbray Swimming Club. I hope you have an enjoyable and happy time as a member of our club and I am sure that you will make many new friends. Your parent or guardian has been given lots of information about the club so please ask them to share it with you.

Melton Mowbray Swimming Club is an ASA Swim21 Club and is committed to helping you reach your potential. All of our coaches and teachers are here to provide appropriate opportunities for swimmers at each stage of their development and they have been trained to do so in a safe and proper manner.

If you have a concern about your training please speak to your coach. If you feel unable to do this then ask your parent, me or another adult within the club to help you.

The club has a Child Safeguarding Policy and an Anti-Bullying Policy which are displayed on the notice board and on the club website www.meltonswimclub.co.uk, you can also get a copy from me. It is very important that you feel safe whilst you are a member of our club and if you are worried or concerned about anything to do with the Club, either due to the behaviour of adults or other young people you can speak to your parents or me, or any other Club official. As the Club Welfare Officer it is my job to help you and your parents deal with the concern appropriately. My contact details can be found on the notice board, in the Members' Handbook and on the Club website.

You can also contact Swim-Line. This is a helpline where you can talk about your concerns with a person who understands swimming and the welfare of children and young people. The Swim-Line number is 0808 100 4001. You will be asked to leave your contact number and your call will be returned within 24 hours. This number will also access the NSPCC/Child-Line helpline number if you need to speak to somebody immediately - just hang on until your call is answered.

We expect all of our swimmers and their parents and guardians to behave in an appropriate manner to our coaches, club helpers, fellow swimmers and all adults and young people that you have contact with in competitions. We have a Code of Conduct for Swimmers and a Code of Conduct for Parents which you both should read before signing the Application Form to join the Club. If you are unsure about any aspect of the Code of Conduct then please feel free to ask.

We hope that you will have a very long, happy and successful time whilst a member of Melton Mowbray Swimming Club
